In an open letter to President Xi Jinping on China’s ‘Children’s Day’ (六一际儿童节) on 1 June, the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) calls on President Xi to end forced cultural assimilation policy, which is being aggressively implemented under the guise of “Second Generation Ethnic Policy” in Tibet.
The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) and Asian Dignity Initiative (ADI) released a joint report, “Sucked Our Marrow: Tibetan Language and Education Rights under Xi Jinping”, at a launch event held at the Tibet Museum in Dharamshala.
Chinese authorities in Sershul (Ch: Shiqu) County, Kardze (Ch: Ganzi ) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, had ordered sometime early this year that all Tibetan private schools must be closed and students enrolled in government schools by 20 April where the medium of instruction is Chinese.
