The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) is deeply grieved to learn about the death of Mr. Tashi Phuntsok, who set himself on fire to protest the repressive policies enforced by the Chinese government in Tibet.
The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) has been informed by credible sources that Tsewang Norbu, 25, a famous Tibetan singer died of self-immolation on 25 February this year protesting the Chinese government’s repression at the Potala Palace Square in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), in the Tibetan province of U-Tsang.
Lobsang Tenzin, now 32, was released recently after serving 10 of the 13-year prison term in Ngaba (Chinese: Aba) Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, in the Tibetan province of Amdo. The exact date of his release is unknown.
