Eight Tibetan students have been sentenced to varying prison terms for “illegally holding demonstration” last year by the Chabcha (Ch: Gonghe) County People’s Court in Chabcha County in Tsolho (Ch: Hainan) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, according to a report published today on the official “China’s Tibet website”. According to the report, the county court passed the judgement on 10 April 2013 at around 10 am (local time), sentencing eight Tibetan youths from Tsolho Vocational School in Chabcha County for holding demonstration on 26 November 2012. They were charged of “causing harm to social stability”.

A group of local Tibetans were severely beaten and then detained by the Chinese security forces for staging peaceful demonstrations in Kardze County, Kardze “Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture” (“TAP”), Sichuan, according to confirmed information received by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD)

On 21 June 2008, a Tibetan youth named Dragu of Khashul Village, Dado Township, Kardze County, Kardze “TAP”, was detained by the People’s Armed Police (PAP) as he had entered into the main market of the County calling for a free Tibet until his protest was overtaken by 7 local PAP officers. He was seen sporting a white band tied around his head with the words “Bod Rangzen” (Free Tibet) written on it and with Tibetan flags painted on both of his cheeks.

A Tibetan nomad from Lithang was arrested in Tibet yesterday for staging political demonstration during an official function, according to information received by Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD).

Ronggay A’drak, a Tibetan nomad from Lithang was arrested for staging political demonstration during the official function for the 80th Founding Anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) organised by the Lithang County Government on Wednesday (1 August 2007).

A large number of people from Lithang area were reported to have come to witness the official function and the famous annual horse race festival popular in the area.
