Solitary Tibetan protests continue in Ngaba to commemorate ‘16 March Massacre’

Last week, Chinese authorities detained two Tibetans – a monk and a laywoman- for staging solitary protests to mark the ninth anniversary of ‘16 March Massacre’ in Ngaba (Ch: Aba) County in Ngaba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, in the Tibetan province of Amdo. The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) strongly condemns the excessive force used against a peaceful Tibetan protester by local Chinese police in Ngaba (Ch: Aba) County in Ngaba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, in the Tibetan province of Amdo. A Tibetan monk named Lobsang Tsultrim, age unknown, was hospitalised after police subjected him to severe beatings early this week. A disciplinary head of Amdo Jachung Monastery in Bayen County, Tsoshar Prefecture, Qinghai Province has been expelled for failing to comply with the officials of “patriotic education” campaign, according to confirmed information received by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD).
